The Department of Pediatrics educates and trains future doctors by using broad insights into the principles and challenges of pediatrics, the branch of medicine dealing with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Students are equipped with the initiative and preparedness to utilize basic science principles in the analysis and study of clinical problems of pediatric patients.

A critical segment of the pediatric program includes the clinical training in our on-campus Pediatric Clinic, which serves the greater Nashville area. Nine physicians—who practice and teach medicine—serve Meharry students and patients.

Meharry also partners with neighboring universities– including Trevecca Nazarene University and Tennessee State University, helping to provide a training center for students in their medical programs.
