ThinkFast!

Three schools also participated in ThinkFast!, a trivia game show with audience participation via keypad. Pop culture questions interspersed with safety driving facts tested students’ knowledge—and awarded prizes—of seat belts and distracted driving.

Celebrate My Drive

The Alliance is supporting State Farm© in its Celebrate My Drive™ initiative, a U.S. and Canada celebration of new drivers on September 15, 2012. Students who host events on September 15 are eligible to win a $100,000 grant for their high schools and other prizes. Check out Celebrate My Drive’s Facebook page to see what teens are saying to other teens about safe driving or visit www.celebratemydrive.com for contest details.

Ready, Safe, Drive!

New this year is the Ready, Safe, Drive! pilot project sponsored by Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. Two Rivers Ford in Mt. Juliet is partnering with the Alliance to offer a car care and safe driving workshop to young female drivers. Participants ages 15 to 20 test their knowledge with an interactive game and prizes, then visit the bay area to learn the fundamentals of car care from a Ford technician.

Middle Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center

Sponsored by the Governor’s Highway Safety Office, the Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center promotes the safety of children on our roadways by educating families, training and certifying Child Passenger Safety Technicians, and establishing “fitting stations” across Tennessee. Families can visit the fitting stations for an expert opinion on the placement of their children’s car seats and are shown the right—and safe—way to install their car seats.

Visit the Meharry Safe Driving Initiative page on Facebook and see the schools participating in the Alliance’s safe driving projects.
