The Drs. Vincent

Alumnus Dr. Felix Vincent’s latest philanthropic contribution to Meharry makes him the youngest living donor as a Guardian of Our Legacy, a group of generous and loyal alumni who have given $100,000 or more to the college. Both he and his wife, Dr. Brittany S. Vincent, provide dental care for rural communities in Tennessee.

Oral Health Day — Spring 2023

School of Dentistry students, Remote Area Medical, and the Meharry American Student Dental Association, assisted by volunteer dentists, alumni, students, and Meharry staff, performed free dental care at Oral Health Day last Saturday on the Meharry campus. This year, the team performed 684 procedures on 305 patients—an estimated $96,000 in value.

The History of the Meharry Shade

Dentures used to come in one shade of gum tissue: Coral Pink. In 1946, Meharry Medical College faculty of the School of Dentistry developed a new shade for dentures to better serve their African American patients. This came to be know as the Meharry Shade.
